Barcelona have made it a priority to sign a new defensive midfielder and a left winger in the summer transfer window. And the search for the latter has seemingly led them to Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane, reports Adrian Sanchez.

The Blaugrana do not have a natural wide player on the left flank and have resorted to deploying the likes of Joao Felix, Ferran Torres, or even Gavi and Pedri as false-wingers this season.

Barcelona sporting director Deco is eager to address that issue in the summer, giving way to links with the likes of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Kaoru Mitoma, and Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli.

Sane also on the agenda

Now, it appears that Leroy Sane has also emerged as a target for Barcelona, with the club keeping a close eye on his situation at Bayern Munich.

The 28-year-old has been at the Allianz Arena for almost four years now and has grown into an important player for the Bavarian giants, helping them achieve plenty of success during that period.

However, Sane’s contract with Bayern Munich expires in 2025 and there has been no progress made on the renewal front.

As such, Barça are keeping tabs on any developments surrounding the German international, as they seek a quality left-winger in the summer.

Any move for Sane, whose market value stands at €80 million, might not come cheap, despite his contractual situation.

However, previous reports have suggested that Sane would be likely to renew his contract at Bayern Munich.

But given the changes taking place at the Allianz Arena, it remains to be seen how things develop and whether Barcelona decide to act on their interest in the 28-year-old former Manchester City man.
