Barcelona’s relationship with Nike appears to be reaching a breaking point. The club are unhappy with the terms offered by Nike and the relationship between the two parties has only worsened following a meeting in Barcelona last month.

This has led Barcelona to consider a potential change of sponsor, with Puma ready to emerge as an alternative. However, before Barça shift to the next sponsor, the club are considering a temporary tie-up with a brand for at least one or two years.

Barcelona considering Hummel tie-up

To that end, Spanish journalist Gerard Romero has revealed that Barcelona have identified a potential partner in the form of Hummel, a German sportswear company.

Barça’s idea is to co-operate with Hummel to manufacture their very own product line that will help the club significantly boost their revenue.

Romero also points out that this week could prove to be vital, as far as Barcelona’s relationship with Nike is concerned.

Both parties are now starting to explore a possible separation, which is where Hummel comes into the fray.

Romero adds that Hummel have already submitted an offer to Barcelona for potential cooperation in the near future.

Hummel’s job will be to manufacture and distribute the Barcelona shirts. The deal between the two will not be a complicated one, and Barcelona are likely to reserve more power than they did in the deal with Nike.

Barcelona have already seen some designs that may work. They can work on those designs with Hummel and it won’t be surprising to see Barça kits receiving a complete makeover from next season.

Barcelona’s idea is to continue with Hummel for a few years before jumping on to a deal with apparel giants Puma, who are ready to offer a lucrative deal to the Catalan outfit.
