Andreas Christensen’s injury situation has been a cause for concern at Barcelona, and recent reports from Mundo Deportivo have shed some light on his expected return.

The Danish defender sustained an injury at the start of the La Liga season, which has kept him out of action for several weeks.

Despite initial projections indicating he might be back after the current international break, there is still uncertainty within the club about when he will actually be fit to play.

As a result, Barcelona have opted to remain silent on the matter, preferring not to make any definitive statements until they are fully confident in his recovery.

No specific timeline

Shortly after his injury, Barcelona chose not to disclose a specific recovery timeline, noting that his return would depend on how his condition progressed.

At the time, there were estimates that he would need a couple of months to recover, which have now passed.

However, Barcelona are exercising caution and does not want to speculate on his return until they are certain that he is physically ready to contribute to the team.

Since his injury, Christensen has missed several key fixtures, including matches against Athletic Club, Rayo Vallecano, Valladolid, Girona, Villarreal, Getafe, Osasuna, Young Boys, and most recently, Alaves.

Hansi Flick’s words

Meanwhile, Hansi Flick has expressed the importance of having Christensen at full strength. He highlighted that while Christensen played through some discomfort last season, the club does not want to risk rushing him back too soon.

Flick stressed that Christensen is a vital part of the team’s defensive structure, but he must be at 100% to make a real impact on the pitch.

“As he is now, he cannot help the team. Last year he played a few games with problems and we have to look after him.

“He is a very good defender and it is important for the club to have him at 100%. He cannot help us at only 80%,” he stated.

As time ticks down after the international break, Barcelona remain focused on ensuring Christensen’s full recovery, knowing how important he is for their defensive stability.
