Given the club’s financial situation, FC Barcelona are looking for a cash injection into the coffers by any means. Talks with a new investor for the Barça Studios deal are progressing, but the Catalans could find another possible source of revenue in the days to come.

Indeed, Barcelona are looking at the possibility of receiving some cash from one of their former players in Jean-Clair Todibo.

Barcelona have a sell-on clause for Todibo

Barcelona signed Todibo in 2019, but the defender never really settled down at the club and after loan spells with Schalke, Benfica, and OGC Nice, he signed for the latter club permanently in the summer of 2021 for a fee of €8.5 million.

As part of the deal, Barcelona also secured a 20% future sell-on clause for the French defender, meaning they would receive one-fifth of any transfer fee Nice received for him.

And that clause is now set to pay dividends for Barça as Todibo could be on the move this month amid rising interest in his services.

Bayern Munich join Manchester United in Todibo race

As per the latest report from SPORT, Bayern Munich have entered the race to sign Todibo from Nice. The former Barcelona defender is also a transfer target for Premier League side Manchester United.

The Red Devils have been linked with a move for Todibo for quite some time now, with Erik Ten Hag looking for defensive reinforcements.

Tottenham too were credited with an interest in the French star but they have since signed Radu Dragusin.

Now though Bayern Munich have also emerged as suitors for the former Barcelona star, despite having signed Eric Dier recently from Tottenham.

This development will come as a boost for Barcelona as they stand to benefit from Todibo’s transfer. If Nice manage to sell him for a fee of around €35-40 million, the Catalan giants would be entitled an amount of €7-8 million, which would be a welcome bonus for the club.
