Barcelona headed into the Spanish Super Cup semi-finals against Osasuna with a few key players injured, including Gavi, who is out of the rest of the season and 2024 European Championship with an ACL injury.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen missed out, as well, with a back injury for which has gone under the knife. He will be out until mid to late February if the reports are correct. Meanwhile, Inigo Martinez picked up another knock on his return to action against Barbastro.

Pedri and Joao Cancelo had also only recently picked up injuries, but had decided to travel with the team with the hopes of getting them fit and ready ahead of kick-off.

However, when the team news came with the starting lineup, only Pedri made the bench, while Cancelo was left out completely. The Spaniard even came on in the second half eventually, and put in a solid shift.

And in even more bad news, Cancelo is expected to be out for the final against Real Madrid, as well, as per recent reports from SPORT.

He is practically ruled out, and Barcelona have already decided that he will not return in time for the game, but are still willing to wait for a miracle until Sunday morning before the game.

The ex-Manchester City star is already in the squad list, so he can make the team late on matchday if Barcelona doctors give him the medical green light.

Cancelo had picked up this knee injury in the first-half against Las Palmas, as he collided into one of the opposition players while contesting a 50/50 ball. He was initially ruled out for a couple of weeks, but has seemingly made good progress.
