With the La Liga season almost over, Barcelona are chalking out their plans and strategies for the summer transfer window.
One of the key issues that the Catalan heavyweights must address in the coming weeks is the future of the plethora of players currently out on loan.
Indeed, the Blaugrana have a number of stars away on loan who will be returning to the club once the campaign is over.
Eric Garcia addresses future
One such player whose future needs addressing is defender Eric Garcia. The Barcelona defender has enjoyed a solid season on loan at Girona, helping them finish in the top four and qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
Following Girona’s 7-0 win over Granada, during which he scored, the Catalan club’s fans serenaded the defender and urged him to stay.
Addressing the matter of his future, Garcia insisted that he still has a contract with Barcelona and will return to the club before seeing what happens.
“I have always said it. I have a contract with Barça, I’ll go back there and then we’ll see what happens,” the Barcelona loanee stated, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.
What does the future hold for Eric?
Not so long ago, it appeared that Eric Garcia would remain at Barcelona next season, with manager Xavi Hernandez being keen on retaining him.
However, the 44-year-old is now on his way out, with his sacking being confirmed on Friday.
As such, Garcia must now return to the club and hope to make an impression on the new manager, expected to be Hansi Flick, during the pre-season.
