Following the defeat to Girona in the Catalan derby, Barcelona are all set for a trophyless 2023/24 campaign.
Elimination in all three competitions, coupled with the prospect of finishing third and missing out from next season’s Spanish Super Cup could see Barcelona miss out on several millions in revenue.
Nevertheless, Barça remain determined to beef up their squad in the coming summer, with President Joan Laporta ready to make widespread changes in the squad.
Barcelona eyeing move for Darwin Nunez
A recent report from Mundo Deportivo cites the English media, which claims that Barcelona are interested in the services of Darwin Nunez.
It appears the Catalans have identified the Liverpool superstar as a potential long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski.

Should Barcelona look to move on from Lewandowski in the coming summer, Nunez could emerge as the ideal replacement option for the club.
Barcelona to face major hurdles
Darwin Nunez has been one of Liverpool’s biggest bets in recent years, with the forward joining the Premier League giants in 2022, for a fee of €75 million.
Since then, Nunez has racked up 33 goals and 17 assists in 93 competitive matches. His 19 goal involvements this season have been critical in helping Liverpool’s title challenge.
Keeping that in mind, it is unlikely Liverpool would want to offload Nunez, whose contract at Anfield does not expire until 2028.
Even if Liverpool do intend to sell Nunez, the Premier League giants will likely want to recoup the fortune they had spent on the player a couple of years ago. Barcelona, to that end, may have several financial hurdles in their bid to sign the Uruguayan international.
