Barcelona have begun working on the contract renewals of several players heading into the final phase of the current season.

The Catalans wish to tie down the long-term futures of young talents like Pau Cubarsi, Marc Guiu, and Hector Fort, among others.

At the same time, Barcelona are also focusing on renewing the deals of established first-team stars like Ronald Araujo and Pedri.

Pedri’s renewal going slow

Recent reports had suggested that Barcelona were in advanced talks over the contract renewal of Pedri, whose current deal runs out in 2026.

However, MARCA has come forward with an update on the matter, stating that while contacts have taken place between the two parties to discuss an extension, things are moving very slowly.

Pedri and Barcelona began contact months ago – towards the end of last year, to extend his contract. The willingness of both parties to continue their ties is at a maximum, but they are taking the negotiations calmly.

For the moment, there are steps forward but no significant progress has been made, mostly due to the economic situation of the Catalan club.

Indeed, Barcelona are waiting to know its salary limit to finalise the operation to finalise the operation, which would be accounted for in the next campaign.

No rush from both sides

Barcelona are clear that Pedri is a key part of the team and that when fit he is a guaranteed starter. As such, there is a total endorsement for his renewal from the club and the sporting department.

Given that he still has two years on his deal, there is no hurry on the Catalans’ part.

Pedri, for his part, is aware that Barcelona count on him and knows the financial situation too and is relaxed about the contract talks.

“I am very calm and I know that Barça will keep what we have talked about,” he said last month.
