Heading into the summer transfer window, many Barcelona players will be getting accustomed to seeing their names headlining transfer gossip.

One of the players anticipated to make regular appearances in the newspapers is Frenkie de Jong, whose future continues to be riddled with speculation.

Owing to the fact that his salary will become a major constraint on the club and his sporting performances have raised some eyebrows, a departure can hardly be ruled out.

Bayern Munich have listed De Jong as a target

Now, according to Christian Falk Frenkie de Jong is one of the many transfer targets for Bayern Munich this summer.

The Bavarians endured a difficult season, having lost out on the Bundesliga to Bayer Leverkusen and being outdone in the UEFA Champions League by rivals Borussia Dortmund, who reached the finals of the competition.

As such, they are eager to make fortifications and consider De Jong’s expertise in midfield as a means of reviving their dominance.

Presently, the Dutchman is recovering from an injury and faces a race against time to recover for the Euros, which will be held in Germany.

Barcelona’s stance on Frenkie de Jong

It must be noted that the 27-year-old would fetch a significant fee and Barcelona would be handed a major pursuit in their objective to return to the 1:1 rule in La Liga with Frenkie’s sale.

And even though Hansi Flick values De Jong in his set-up, he would be open to overseeing his departure if the club signs a top-quality midfielder as his replacement.

One of the players high on Flick’s wishlist is his former player Joshua Kimmich and thus De Jong’s sale to Bayern Munich could potentially facilitate his arrival or pave the way for an exchange deal.
