The summer transfer window is generally known to produce an abundance of surprises, and once again, many Barcelona players face an uncertain future ahead of this crucial juncture.
That said, predicting the future for some individuals is relatively simple given their career trajectory.
For instance, it is highly unlikely that loanees like Clement Lenglet and Sergino Dest will return to the Catalan outfit.
Similarly, the departures of certain players are virtually guaranteed. Oriol Romeu, for one, has not lived up to expectations this season, making his exit a near certainty.
There is little doubt about Oriol Romeu’s sale
Indeed, according to SPORT, Oriol Romeu’s departure in the summer is a foregone conclusion.
Romeu joined for an estimated sum of €3.4 million on a three-year contract last summer. In his deal, Barca also added a €400 million release clause.
However, with the campaign reaching its culmination, it is fair to say Romeu has struggled to meet expectations, losing steam after a good start to the season.
Opponents have often targeted the Spanish holding midfielder as a vulnerability, and Romeu’s lack of authority at the base of the midfield has led to him spending much of the season on the bench.
Consequently, Barça are certain to place him in the transfer market this summer and cash out on the 32-year-old.
Girona, Besiktas have shown interest
Reports have previously claimed that Oriol Romeu is a target for Turkish club Besiktas, who are looking to strengthen their defensive midfield position.
Additionally, Romeu has also amassed interest from his former club Girona, with manager Michel claiming he would like to sign the Spaniard from Barcelona.
Where Romeu ends up is still unclear, but it is clear that Barcelona are intent on parting ways with the midfielder as they seek to fortify the defensive midfield position.
