Barcelona’s 19-year-old defender Mikayil Faye is yet to play for the senior team and yet, he continues to be a jewel within the ranks.
The young defender has gained significant attention while playing for the reserve team, and his recent appearances for the Senegalese national team have thrust him into the spotlight.
As of today, Barça face a crucial decision regarding the young player. They must weigh whether to promote him to the first team for their upcoming project or consider one of the lucrative offers that have been presented, reports SPORT.
In the latter scenario, either a paid loan deal or a sale with buyback option would be considered.
Faye dreams of Barcelona, but things look bleak
It is to be noted that Faye has a contract with Barcelona until 2027 and at this stage, he is ready to take the big step.
Now, Faye aspires to play for Barcelona but the central back position is currently flooded with players, leaving his fate hanging on the potential departures orchestrated by the club.
Presently, securing a spot for him seems daunting as Ronald Araujo and Pau Cubarsi are deemed indispensable, while offers loom for Andreas Christensen, Inigo Martinez, Jules Kounde, alongside loaned players Clement Lenglet and Eric Garcia.

Amidst all this, Faye has already received enticing offers to ply his trade in the First Division. Should he depart, Barcelona prefer a transfer with a buyback clause.
In that regard, Girona have expressed interest, while Lens and Nice in France are willing to shell out over €10 million.
Additionally, a German club is preparing a formidable bid, and murmurs of interest from Manchester United have surfaced in England.
Barcelona, on their part, firmly believe that their decision regarding the Senegalese player has been justified as he has seamlessly integrated into the team.
They recognize his significance and plan to ensure his future remains within their control, either through a sale with a buyback option or a paid loan arrangement.
