The arrival of Vitor Roque towards the end of December was met with great anticipation and excitement at FC Barcelona. After all, the teenager had enjoyed a fine season in Brazil with Athletico Paranaense before his injury and the Blaugrana were having problems in attack.
Roque made his debut in the La Liga encounter against Las Palmas and featured a bit more prominently against UD Barbastro in the Copa del Rey Round of 32.
Following that, it was expected that the 18-year-old may have minutes in the Spanish Super Cup semi-final against CA Osasuna, but did not even warm up and had no minutes. The same situation followed in the final against Real Madrid last night.
It was previously reported that Roque had suffered some minor muscle discomfort which was the reason why he did not feature against Osasuna as the club did not want to take any risks with the new arrival.
It might have been the case again last night against Real Madrid, especially with the game having been lost quite early.
Roque could have a bigger role vs Unionistas
But with a Copa del Rey clash coming up against lower league outfit Unionistas de Salamanca in the next few days, SPORT is claiming that Vitor Roque might have a prominent role in that clash for Barcelona.
As mentioned earlier, the 18-year-old has already played some minutes in Copa del Rey, getting over 20 minutes of action against Barbastro.
And, Thursday’s match against Unionistas could be another opportunity for the Brazilian international to get more minutes under his belt and get used to the ways of Xavi’s Barcelona.
