As reported earlier today, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick is keen on adding another right-back to the squad in the summer of 2025.
In fact, Lille right-back Tiago Santos has been identified as a potential option, with the Catalans scouting the Portuguese ace.
A left-back could also arrive
However, it appears that Barcelona do not intend to stop at that. Indeed, SPORT reports that the Catalans do not rule out the possibility of roping in a new left-back as well in the summer of 2025.
As things stand, Barça have Alejandro Balde as their first-choice left-back with Gerard Martin serving as the backup option.
Both players have some areas of their game that need improving, for example, Balde’s crossing requires some fine-tuning while Martin, who is close to signing a new contract with the club, needs work on the attacking facets of his game.
As such, Barcelona are not ruling out the possibility of signing another left-back next year – one who would provide a different profile to the existing options.
However, everything will depend on the financial situation that the Blaugrana are in and whether there is enough room on the Fair Play margin for them to consider such a move.
It must be remembered that Barcelona will have Alex Valle as an additional option as well, as the La Masia ace will be back after his loan stint at Celtic.
So, it would not be wrong to assume that a new left-back is unlikely to be a high-priority signing for the Blaugrana come 2025. However, the possibility of reinforcing the position very much exists.
