Ronald Araujo will be one of the players in focus heading into the summer break, with the Barcelona star being closely watched by Bayern Munich.
Barcelona, too, are aware of the interest. Given the club’s economic turmoil, a sale might not be ruled out either.
However, as per recent reports, it appears Barça have made a decision on the future of Araujo. The club are determined to keep hold of the defensive mainstay and are even willing to extend his contract by offering a significant pay raise.
Barcelona’s offer to Ronald Araujo
Victor Malo has shed more light on Araujo’s renewal saga, adding that Barcelona have already tabled a renewal offer to the defensive starlet.
The Catalans consider Araujo an indispensable figure at the back. Although they are not completely ruling out a sale, the club’s main objective is to keep hold of the player for the long run.
To that end, Barça have offered Araujo a salary of €12 million, which is higher than his current salary of €8-9 million.
The offer was made after Deco’s three-hour meeting on Wednesday with Araujo’s agents, Edoardo Crnjar and Edmundo Kabchi.
Ronald Araujo’s current deal at Camp Nou expires in 2026. Barça are reportedly seeking a new agreement that will extend his contract until 2029.
This will go a long way in helping Barcelona secure the long-term future of the Uruguayan international. Even if the player wants to leave at some point, the club would have the leverage to demand a fortune.
It is no secret that Araujo may earn significantly more at Bayern Munich. But, the defender, for his part, is happy with his life in Barcelona. And with the club also eager to keep hold of him, an extension could be signed without any issues.
