Barcelona’s goal heading into the summer transfer window will be to continue their rebuilding project without lavishly spending too much money.

They will be hoping to offload as many players as they can from the current squad without compromising on quality so they can bring in replacements without facing registration or financial fair play problems.

The likes of Frenkie de Jong, Ronald Araujo, Raphinha, Jules Kounde, and Andreas Christensen are on the shortlist for potential players that could head towards the exit door, while the goal will be to sign a holding midfielder, a left-winger, a right-back, and hopefully a left-back.

With Marcos Alonso expected to leave on a free transfer, Barcelona could be in search for a new left-back in the summer. They also want to retain the contracts of Joao Cancelo while promoting Hector Fort to the first-team to cover the full-back positions.

Another route being considered by Barça is bringing back Alex Valle from Levante, as per a report from MARCA.

The Spaniard is currently on loan with the La Liga 2 outfit, and has done considerably well as a starter in defence, playing 21 out of 26 possible games as Levante sit 11th in the table.

The idea will be to host four natural full-backs across the right and left side. Alejandro Balde currently boasts of the starting spot on the left side, while Joao Cancelo starts on the right.

However, in light of Balde’s underwhelming form this season, Xavi often opted to use Cancelo on the left, while using Kounde as the right-back.

This became the norm once Balde got injured, with Fort also getting regular minutes with the first-team.

Reports have also claimed that Barcelona are seemingly ready to move Balde on in the summer if a considerable offer arrives. They are well aware of the scarcity of solid left-backs in the market, but also consider Fort and Cancelo as solid options to take over from him.
