FC Barcelona are planning an exciting new project aimed at enhancing the convenience and comfort of their first-team players.

According to SPORT, the club is set to build a dedicated residence for the players at their Sant Joan Despi training ground.

The outlet mentions that the project has already been approved, with execution expected to begin as soon as the necessary budget becomes available.

The initial budget for the residence is estimated at €6 million. However, the club is keen on ensuring that this investment does not weigh on their finances.

Instead, they intend to fund the construction through sponsorship deals. Compared to the massive financial commitment required for the Espai Barça redevelopment, this initiative represents a relatively modest expense.

What is the purpose of this?

The primary purpose of this residence is to provide a convenient resting place for players, particularly after late-night or early-morning returns from matches.

Rather than driving home immediately upon arriving at the sports city, the players will have the option to spend the night in the residence.

This arrangement is expected to save them valuable time and ensure better recovery, as the players typically have training sessions scheduled the following day. By staying overnight, they can maximise rest and minimise unnecessary travel.

Additionally, the residence will also serve as a meeting point for the players before matches held in Barcelona.

This eliminates the need to book hotels for pre-match preparations, cutting logistical challenges and reducing costs. Moreover, the players are likely to feel more at ease in a familiar setting, which could positively impact their overall performance and morale.

Convenience is the key

The building is set to be constructed on the area currently occupied by pitch number two, which is the closest pitch to the one named after Tito Vilanova, where the first team frequently trains under Hansi Flick.

The planned residence will include bedrooms, a dining area, and meeting rooms. It is also envisioned to accommodate other teams within the club, such as the women’s team, when needed.

However, sources from the club have clarified that while the project is a priority, there is no specific timeline for its completion, as it awaits final budget allocations and sponsorship agreements.
