Barcelona are reportedly making moves to secure a loan deal with an obligatory purchase option for Almeria’s promising full-back, Marc Pubill and according to Gerard Romero, if this transfer goes through, it could signal the end of Hector Fort’s time at the club.

It has been suggested that the 21-year-old Pubill has already gained approval from Barça’s scouts and technical staff, and the club will offer €5 million for his services. As iterated, this would include a loan move with the option to buy.

Barcelona see Pubill as a valuable addition due to his potential and the good value he represents. His arrival would strengthen the right-back position, which is currently dominated by Jules Kounde, a preferred starter under Hansi Flick.

With Pubill on board, the competition for a spot in the first team would become even tougher, especially for Hector Fort.

Fort, who is currently part of the reserve team, would likely face increased challenges to secure playing time with the senior squad.

This development comes amidst ongoing speculation about the uncertain futures of Fort and another young talent, Alex Valle

There have been previous reports suggesting that one of these two full-backs could be sold as Barcelona looks for ways to navigate their financial difficulties.

The club is considering various player exits to free up funds, and players like Fort or Valle, who may not align with Barça’s long-term vision, could be among those to depart.

At this point, it seems unlikely that Barcelona will sell any of their key players for a substantial fee in the final days of the transfer window.

Instead, the club is hoping that the adjustments in their squad, including the possible sale of fringe players, will help support new signings like Pubill.

As they work through these financial constraints, Barcelona remain focused on bolstering the squad while also balancing their books, making the right strategic moves for the future.
