In recent hours, there has been a lot of talk about Andreas Christensen’s future, especially after Ilkay Gundogan’s departure from Barcelona.

However, a report from Mundo Deportivo has confirmed that Barcelona have no plans to sell the defender. In fact, the club values Christensen for his quality, versatility, and experience, even though selling him could bring in a good amount of money.

Christensen has become one of the most in-demand players in the transfer market, with several clubs showing interest in signing him this summer

Despite this, and even though the Danish defender was hoping for a spectacular offer that would benefit him both financially and sportingly, Barcelona are not considering letting him go at this time.

What changed for Barcelona and Christensen?

The sporting management and the coaching staff see Christensen as a crucial member of the squad, as his ability to play not only as a centre-back but also as a pivot makes him an asset to the team.

With his experience, the Denmark international offers an important option for the team in this position. This is particularly important now, given that Ronald Araujo is set to be out for an extended period due to injury.

Barcelona are even more determined to keep Christensen because they have also decided not to bring in any new players for the pivot role.

Barcelona have complete confidence in Christensen

Although the 28-year-old did not start in the match against Valencia, the club still has full confidence in him.

In fact, it is said that his situation at Barcelona could only change if he himself requested to leave, which seems unlikely given his contract runs until June 2026.

Recently, Christensen made headlines due to tendon problems, which have been a recurring issue for him. These problems prevented him from training with his teammates ahead of the match against Athletic Bilbao.

Despite these setbacks, Barcelona remain committed to keeping him as a central part of their squad, especially in light of the injuries affecting other key players.
