Speaking at a public appearance in Riyadh, FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta has backed the team to fight and win the Spanish Super Cup final against Real Madrid tomorrow in Saudi Arabia.
Barcelona are the current holders of the Super Cup after having beaten Real Madrid in a convincing fashion last season.
And, as they get set to take on Carlo Ancelotti’s men again tomorrow, Laporta has claimed that the team will give their everything to ensure that last year’s achievements are repeated again in Saudi Arabia.
As quoted by Mundo Deportivo, the Barcelona president said: “We aim to repeat what we did last year, which was a great footballing spectacle and we played a great game.
“We are convinced that we are going to fight for the victory, the players are very united and focused. We will fight to win the final.”
At the event, Laporta also revealed that Barcelona had been invited to participate in the Dakar Rally, but that is something that the club do not plan on doing.
“We have discussed it with the minister but it is not easy. It has already been raised with us a few times. I can imagine it, but when we see all that it involves and represents, it’s not easy,” he said.
“Besides, at Barça, if we take part in any competition we aspire to win and here there are very prepared and very good people. We would have to have a very good driver and a great team.”
