With the departures of Ilkay Gundogan and Vitor Roque now finalised, Barcelona will now move their focus on securing an exit for defensive prodigy Mikayil Faye.

The 20-year-old centre-back prospect joined the club last summer from NK Kustosija for a fee of just €1.5 million and enjoyed a solid season with Barça Atletic.

However, having failed to impress first-team coach Hansi Flick during pre-season, the Senegalese international is on his way out, with no shortage of suitors for him either.

Faye close to leaving

As such, Mundo Deportivo now reports that Mika Faye is inching closer to an exit from FC Barcelona, with the youngster likely to depart in a deal worth €11 million.

According to the Spanish publication, the 20-year-old centre-half has been attracting interest from Italian giants AC Milan as well as FC Porto from Portugal.

Meanwhile, three French clubs – AS Monaco, Rennes, and Lille – have also shown a strong interest in the defender, with the latter two even tabling offers.

Now, PSV Eindhoven from the Netherlands have also entered the race to sign Faye due to the return of Armel Bella-Kotchap to Southampton after his loan spell and Armand Obispo’s absence due to a knee injury.

Barcelona believe that Faye’s departure is now in the final phase and are waiting for a decision from the player on which club will be his next destination.

As reported earlier, the Blaugrana had been demanding a fee of €15 million for the youngster but it is now being suggested that he could leave for around €11 million only.

Even then, it would be a profit of almost eight times for the club, given that he cost just €1.5 million last year.

On top of that, Barcelona are insistent on inserting a buyback clause for Faye as they do not want to lose control over his future. After all, the sporting department believes that he is a player who can develop very well both as a centre-back and as a full-back.

It is now up to Faye to choose his next club before his exit from Barcelona can be finalised.
