At the tender age of 16, Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal is still in the phase of growth and development. This presents Barcelona with the dual challenge of ensuring he performs well on the field while also keeping a close eye on his physical development.

Fortunately, this is a common concern and there is a tailored plan in place for every player in the squad.

Each footballer’s unique needs and stage of development are carefully considered by Barcelona, particularly for young players like Lamine who are still in the process of maturing both as athletes and individuals.

What is Barcelona’s plan for Yamal?

According to a report from SPORT, Yamal is currently operating on a specific physical plan and he has already gained 7 kilograms of muscle mass.

The 16-year-old has experienced a growth spurt of 10 centimetres over the past year, indicating that he is still in the midst of physical development. This underscores that he’s an athlete who hasn’t reached full maturity yet.

Due to this, and considering the concerning instances with young players in the team, there is a desire to be cautious about exposing him to the demands of top-tier football.

The outlet adds that both Barça and RFEF recognize the importance of nurturing Yamal, despite his eagerness to dive into everything.

Yamal’s growth has been impressive

It is not just about tailoring his training to suit his body’s development, but also about managing the pressure of assuming responsibilities and media attention, which is not typical for a 16-year-old.

Over the past few months, Yamal has been focused on building muscle, but he has been careful to tailor his workouts to suit his age as a player.

Standing at 1.80 meters tall already, the forward has managed to pack on about 7 kilograms of muscle mass.

This growth has become evident on the field, especially after a noticeable growth spurt a few months back.
