With Barcelona looking to add a new pivot midfielder in the summer, Everton star Amadou Onana has emerged as a priority target for Deco.

The Barça sporting director wants to bring someone who can add an element of physicality and strength in midfield, leading to a strong interest in the Belgian midfielder.

However, it has been reported that Barça would offer only up to €40 million for the 22-year-old midfield enforcer, along with variables, and not spend a penny more.

Everton inform Barcelona their offer will be rejected

However, now SPORT is claiming that Everton have let Barcelona know that they do not intend to accept the €40 million plus add-ons proposal that they plan on making for Onana.

Given their struggles this season and the financial troubles, Everton would be willing to sell the 22-year-old powerhouse, whom they signed for €35 million in 2022.

Now, Everton are interested in doubling the price of the player and have valued him at €60 million, an exorbitant amount for Barcelona.

Arsenal and Manchester United have already shown their interest in signing Onana, and have the capacity to pay the amount Everton are asking for.

For all these reasons, the Merseysiders are not very interested in the Catalan side’s proposal, given that Barça are only willing to pay €40 million, €20 million less than the asking price.

As such, Everton have made it clear to Barcelona’s emissaries that they are not willing to lower the price. They are not willing to part with Onana for €40 million plus variables, which is what Barça wanted.

Thus, Deco will have to start looking for other attractive solutions to convince Everton, such as the inclusion of a player in the operation.
