Earlier today, reports emerged about Barcelona taking an interest in Colombian starlet Yaser Asprilla, who plies his trade in the EFL Championship, England’s second tier.
Now, fresh rumours have surfaced about the Blaugrana’s interest in yet another young talent, this time out from Germany.
Barcelona eyeing Raul Paula
Indeed, as per BILD, Barcelona have taken a liking to VfB Stuttgart prospect Raul Paula, who is making an impression with the German club’s Under-21 side.
Paula, 20, is a versatile attacking midfielder, capable of playing in multiple positions, and possesses excellent technical ability.
The youngster has had a fine season so far with VfB Stuttgart II, racking up 13 goals and five assists from 21 matches in the Regionalliga Sudwest.
The playmaker has trained with the senior team on several occasions this season and has been named in the matchday squad for three Bundesliga games, but is yet to make a debut.
Despite that, Paula has caught the attention of Barcelona, with Joan Laporta understood to be interested in snapping up the young attacking midfielder.
A number of other clubs from Germany and England are also understood to be keeping an eye on the youngster.
Paula is not happy with his situation as he does not wish to keep playing in the lower leagues. And a move to Barcelona would appeal to the 20-year-old, who sees it as a ‘childhood dream’.
The German talent’s contract with Stuttgart runs until the summer of 2026 and it will be intriguing to see if Barcelona act on their interest come summer.
