According to a recent report from SPORT, Barcelona have no plans to sign a new striker next summer as they place full confidence in Robert Lewandowski to lead their attack until 2026.

Despite being 36 years old, Lewandowski continues to show that age is just a number for him. His scoring form remains impeccable, proving that he is still one of the elite forwards in football.

Lewandowski’s hunger for success has not diminished. He is more determined than ever to stay at the top of his game as long as his body allows it.

His physical condition remains impressive, showing no signs of slowing down, and his sharpness on the field reflects his commitment to staying among the best. The start of the 2024/25 season has demonstrated that he’s still at the peak of his abilities.

Last season’s jitters

It must be noted that the previous season did not end as well as Lewandowski had hoped. Much like his teammates, he struggled with the overall atmosphere in the squad, which left him frustrated.

His relationship with Xavi had also deteriorated slightly. However, Flick’s arrival has given Lewandowski a new sense of optimism.

Lewandowski’s contract is set to expire in 2025, but it includes a clause for an automatic extension if he plays a certain percentage of matches, close to 50%. With his current form, no one doubts that he will meet that requirement soon.

Likely to continue

So far this season, he has started every official match and is one of Flick’s most relied-upon players. He has clocked 804 minutes on the field, making him the fourth most-used player.

Lewandowski intends to see out his contract, including the fourth year, at Barcelona. The club is fully aware of this and is counting on him for the upcoming season.

While the current plan is to rely on him until 2026, Barcelona may begin planning for his eventual successor in the 2026/27 season.

For now, Lewandowski’s relationship with Barcelona remains strong, and with his family happily settled in Castelldefels, this partnership appears to be unbreakable.
