As we move closer to the summer transfer window, Barcelona will have some important decisions to make, especially in regard to the future of their young players.

While Barcelona are ready to keep hold of Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsi in the years to come, the club will face a battle to retain other youngsters such as Hector Fort.

The young defender has made quite the impression during the second half of the campaign, particularly with his technical ability and composure on the flanks.

Fort’s contributions have not gone unnoticed with multiple European clubs keen on his services. Barcelona, though, appear determined to keep hold of Fort and has recently rejected multiple ‘important’ offers.

Barcelona’s plan is to renew the contract of Fort. The youngster’s current deal expires in 2025, which has put multiple clubs on red alert.

To that end, Barça have made a crucial step in their bid to renew the contract of Fort, whose agents have recently met sporting director Deco.

This is according to Gerard Romero, who suggests that the two parties met to talk about a potential renewal.

Barcelona, as mentioned earlier, are ready to reward Fort with a new deal that could see him remain at Camp Nou in the years to come.

Given his age, though, Barcelona cannot immediately offer a deal of more than three years. The club, however, are likely to bypass this rule by offering the player a future contract of five years, which the player can sign once he turns 18.

In addition to the length of the contract, Barcelona are also likely to increase Fort’s salary as well as the value of his release clause.
