With a little over a week left before the summer transfer window closes, FC Barcelona are getting desperate to make more additions to the squad apart from Pau Victor and Dani Olmo.

A new left-winger is the top priority for the Catalan giants at this point after missing out on the signing of Nico Williams.

Despite their financial limitations, Barcelona are going after AC Milan speedster Rafael Leao.

Barcelona not giving up

A move for Leao is anything but straightforward with reports suggesting that the Rossoneri consider him non-transferable and would only consider a sale for a massive fee.

So much so that it was claimed that some within Barcelona believe the deal to be ‘practically impossible’.

However, now, Mundo Deportivo reports that Barça are not giving up hope in their pursuit of the Portuguese international.

Indeed, the Blaugrana intend to wait out for Leao, hoping that his agent Jorge Mendes can convince AC Milan to come to the negotiating table.

As per the report, Barcelona believe Leao could be available for around €80-90 million despite some other outlets quoting a much higher fee. And the club would be open to offering players in exchange as part of the deal as well.

Until it becomes absolutely clear that a move for Leao is not possible, the Catalans will hold off on making any moves for the other winger target, Federico Chiesa.

The Italian is willing to join and has agreed to accept lower wages, but there has been no talk between Barcelona and Juventus over his transfer yet.

And the Catalans do not intend to progress on that operation until it is certain that Mendes cannot broker a deal for Leao.
