While Barcelona are currently reeling from the injury setback to key defender Alejandro Balde, they are set to welcome some good news on the fitness problems front.

One of their most important players, Marc-Andre ter Stegen, is inching closer and closer to making a comeback after being out of action for over two months.

Ter Stegen back training on the pitch

Indeed, as per Mundo Deportivo, Marc-Andre ter Stegen is getting closer to returning to action with Barcelona after having missed 14 games across all competitions.

The 31-year-old Barça captain was seen training on the pitch under the orders of goalkeeping coach Jose Ramon de la Fuente today at the Ciutat Esportiva before retiring to the gym to continue his recovery work after the rest of the squad began their session.

This is a big step in the right direction for Ter Stegen and the countdown for the star goalkeeper’s return is now underway.

Ter Stegen could return vs Granada

Earlier this week, speaking at the Mundo Deportivo gala, Ter Stegen had claimed that he is working very hard on his rehabilitation and could be ready to make a comeback in two weeks.

“I can be ready in two weeks. I have good feelings,” he said.

As such, it was suggested that the German international could be ready in time to face Granada in La Liga in the second week of February.

And with Ter Stegen now returning to training on the pitch, things certainly seem to be on the rise as far as the first-choice goalkeeper is concerned.

Even if he does not return against Granada, the aim is to have the former Borussia Monchengladbach ace fully fit and at 100% in time for the UCL clash against Napoli.
