Barcelona’s defence should have called themselves lucky to not have to deal with the onslaught of Nico Williams, during the club’s goalless draw with Athletic Club last weekend.
The young forward was serving an indirect card suspension, which helped Barcelona retain a clean sheet. However, Williams is facing an uncertain summer ahead, with multiple clubs interested in his services.
Barcelona, in fact, are one of the clubs who have been linked with a move for Nico Williams, as the club look to reinforce the ranks in the attacking unit.
Nico Williams has a €50 million release clause
In his latest transfer news bulletin, Matteo Moretto has offered a fresh update on the future of Nico Williams.
Moretto suggests that any club willing to sign Williams this summer must meet the player’s hefty release clause, which is valued at around €50 million.

Not to mention, he has enjoyed immense success at Athletic Club, having racked up 36 goal involvements in 118 competitive appearances.
Williams is also a regular with the Spanish national team and it won’t be surprising to see him becoming a part of La Roja for the upcoming European Championship.
Barcelona to face Chelsea competition
While Barcelona have been tracking the progress of Nico Williams for a long time, the club are set to face stiff competition from a host of other European giants.
Chelsea, in particular, are long-time admirers of Williams and are likely to enter the market for him in the coming summer.
Apart from the Blues, several other Premier League clubs may make proposals for the Spanish international this summer, as they look to lure him to English shores.
