Barcelona urged to sign ‘the new Neymar’

Brazil has always been a famous hunting ground for FC Barcelona as far as signing young talents with potential is concerned.

Over the years, the Blaugrana have had some successful acquisitions from the South American nation, Neymar being one of the most standout signings while there have been some mishaps as well.

Most recently, the Catalans have bet on Vitor Roque, signing him in a mammoth deal worth €61 million, including add-ons.

Andre Cury, a former Barça scout and Roque’s agent, played a key role in the deal for the striker going through smoothly. Now, he has put forth another exciting young talent from Brazil, urging the Catalans to sign him.

Barcelona urged to go for Messinho

Indeed, Cury has asked Barcelona to consider the signing of Palmeiras’ 16-year-old wonderkid Estevao Willian, also known as ‘Messinho’, claiming that the teenager can be the ‘new Neymar’.

Estevao is widely regarded as the next biggest thing emerging out of Brazil, with the teenager making waves in the Copinha tournament last year as well as impressing at the FIFA Under-17 World Cup.

Since then, the 16-year-old sensation has broken into the Palmeiras senior team, making five appearances in which he has one goal.

Barcelona have been monitoring Estevao for some time now and now his agent has urged the club to go for him when the opportunity presents itself.

“In my opinion, Barcelona should consider signing Messiinho because he will give Barca a lot of joy alongside Vitor Roque. I bet a lot on Messiinho because he is the new Neymar,” he said (h/t FR Barça).

Estevao dreams of Barcelona

Barcelona’s interest in Estevao is reciprocated by the player himself who has openly admitted on multiple occasions that he dreams of donning the Blaugrana jersey.

However, there is intense competition for the teenager’s signing, with top clubs across Europe like Chelsea, PSG, among others, also monitoring him.

Given that those teams are in a much better position financially, Barcelona might be at a disadvantage in the race for the teenage prodigy.
