Barcelona versatile defender wants to remain at club amid exit links

Eric Garcia’s future has been a subject of much discussion, as Barcelona desperately look to sanction an exit in order to accommodate Marcus Rashford.

With Ansu Fati unwilling to leave Barça, the focus has shifted to Garcia, who has been courted by at least two European teams in Girona and Como.

Both clubs are ready to cough up a certain amount in order to attain his services in the ongoing January transfer window.

Garcia unwilling to leave Barcelona

A recent report from SPORT suggests Eric Garcia’s desire is to continue at Barcelona despite ongoing speculation.

Although the defender is aware of the market around him, his career objective was to succeed at Barça.

To that end, Garcia wants to continue at Camp Nou and prove to Hansi Flick that he is capable of earning more minutes for the first-team.

Garcia already enjoyed a solid game against Benfica last night. His aim now is to build on that performance and become an even more important entity at the club.

Flick, for his part, is extremely happy with the way Garcia has performed while the German also values the versatility offered by the Spaniard.

Therefore, Flick can envision Garcia continuing at Barcelona, at least until the end of the season. Barcelona are involved in multiple competitions and Flick would require all the options he has.

This, of course, would greatly impact Barcelona’s pursuit of Rashford, especially given that there are other clubs who are more than willing to sign the Englishman this month.
