Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen is now in the final stages of his recovery, according to a recent report from SPORT.
The German shot-stopper has been actively working on his return to full fitness, and his progress has been more encouraging than initially expected.
Having been on the pitch for several weeks, he continues to improve as he edges closer to resuming competitive action.
He is training again
One of the key milestones in his recovery occurred about a month ago when he was able to put on his gloves once again. While it may seem like a small step for many, it was a significant psychological boost for the player.
Every stage of his rehabilitation has been carefully managed to ensure a smooth return without rushing the process.
It has now been over four months since Ter Stegen underwent surgery, and his recovery has exceeded expectations.
The experienced goalkeeper had previously indicated to the coaching staff that he intended to be available for selection by May.
This timeline aligns with the final five fixtures of La Liga and the crucial stages of the Champions League, including the second leg of the semi-finals and the final, should Barcelona advance that far.
Barcelona have a plan in place

The club is optimistic that within the next three weeks, Ter Stegen will be able to rejoin full training with the squad.
However, the coaching staff remains cautious, ensuring that no unnecessary risks are taken, especially given the strong performances of Wojciech Szczesny.
The plan is for Ter Stegen to gradually increase his training intensity and, by mid-April, participate fully alongside his teammates, provided his rehabilitation continues progressing smoothly.
Can he play in UCL?
Another factor to consider is how the club will handle the Champions League squad selection. UEFA regulations permit players to be registered if they replace an existing squad member.
This means that Barcelona could reinstate Ter Stegen in the competition, replacing Szczesny if necessary. However, the Polish goalkeeper is currently in excellent form and firmly established as the first choice.
Given that Ter Stegen has not played for months, the decision on whether to reinstate him in the starting XI will require careful deliberation.
At the very least, it appears likely that Ter Stegen could return to action in La Liga before the season concludes in May.
