Having struggled for minutes at Barcelona last season, Ansu Fati went out on loan to Brighton & Hove Albion in the summer transfer window.

From the player’s point of view, the idea was to enjoy a campaign with regular minutes and force his way back into Xavi Hernandez’s plans at Barça.

However, just when things were starting to look up for Fati, the 21-year-old succumbed to an injury that ruled him out of action until this weekend.

Fati made his comeback against Crystal Palace on Sunday, featuring as a substitute for Roberto De Zerbi’s side, and will be hoping to slowly earn a starting berth.

What does the future hold for Ansu?

Now, according to SPORT, Barcelona would welcome the opportunity of selling Ansu Fati in the summer once he is back from his loan stint at Brighton.

The report claims that the 21-year-old prodigy’s talent has never been in doubt but in the months to come, he must prove himself with his loan club to stand a chance of forcing his way back into the Barça setup.

Fati’s priority remains to succeed with the Catalans, but his agent, Jorge Mendes, is clear that the youngster will continue with Barça only if there is a leading role for him in the side.

With a new manager set to take over in the summer, there may be room for things to change, but the explosion of Lamine Yamal, the potential permanent signing of Joao Felix, and the possibility of another left winger arriving would leave no space for Fati.

While Barça are not closing the door on his return, at this point, they would prefer a sale in the summer if an offer worth close to €30 million would arrive.

But for that to happen, Fati must perform well for the remainder of the season at Brighton. Either way, the Spaniard is facing a crucial next four months in his career.
