Six months ago, Marc Casado was not remotely close to a place in Barcelona’s first team. He has now established himself as a mainstay for the Blaugrana and is undoubtedly the first midfielder in the lineup for Hansi Flick.

The youngster has managed to fill a gaping void the Catalans have been struggling with for years now. Defensively reliable and always pitching in with valuable attacking runs and passes, he is a tireless machine in the midfield.

Barcelona do not intend to let him go

As relayed in a recent update by Fichajes, Barcelona are clear that they have no intentions of letting Casado go in the near future and wish to safeguard his presence.

They see in him the potential to become a pillar in the team’s long-term project and a leader in the middle of the park, much like Sergio Busquets was in the past.

Casado’s performances have not gone unnoticed by Europe’s elite and rumours of interest have already begun to flow in. Barcelona, however, will continue to shield him and may well improve the terms of his contract to deter the parties.

The 21-year-old signed a renewal with the team only in June this year, just before his burst to prominence and is contracted at the club until 2028. It will not be surprising if Barcelona push for another improvement of terms so as to improve his release clause.

So far this season, Casado has played 11 La Liga games for the club with three assists to his name and an average of seven defensive actions per game.

He even made his debut for the Spanish national team and appears set for a golden future for both club and country.
