Barcelona have been pursuing the signings of a fair few youngsters who can break into the team across the next few years, and continue to create a youthful core for the team.

They were successful with this as the likes of Pedri and Ronald Araujo are integral pillars of the squad. Others, like Pablo Torre and Francisco Trincao – in recent years -, have not quite matched those expectations.

However, one thing is clear, Barcelona want to explore more of these low-risk—high-reward deals that could end up benefitting them a ton in the long run.

As such, one of the players Barça are keeping tabs on is Djurgardens’ teenage midfield sensation, Lucas Bergvall. He is on the radar of several top teams across Europe, but the Catalans seem to be leading the race for his signing.

That notwithstanding, they are facing competition from Tottenham Hotspur, who are pushing for his signature. They are ready to match and even better Barcelona’s €10 million offer for him, but more importantly, are offering the Swede a place in their first-team.

And as far as Barcelona are concerned, they want to convince Bergvall using their project, with the promise that first-team minutes will not be far away despite the squad being stacked with midfielders.

And therefore, they will not enter into a bidding war for his services, as per a report by Adrian Sanchez.

Their offer — €7 million plus €3 million in variables, is the final one they are ready to table, and will not improve on it even if it means missing out on the player.

Bergvall already visited Barcelona and spoke to the sporting director, Deco. However, he seems to be tempted by Spurs’ offer, and has not given the green light to either team.

Spurs’ winger, Dejan Kulusevski, has reportedly been important in this pursuit, trying to convince his compatriot to choose London over the Catalan capital.

This saga is expected to stretch out over the next few weeks, if not potentially a couple of months.
