As has been reported over the past few days, FC Barcelona find themselves in a battle with clubs like Chelsea and Arsenal in pursuit of priority transfer target Nico Williams.

The 22-year-old speedster is seen as the perfect signing for the Catalans to counter the addition of Kylian Mbappe at Real Madrid.

However, the financial situation means that things are moving slowly than they would like, allowing more and more clubs to make an attempt at signing the Spanish international.

The Italian journalist states that the Blaugrana intend to move swiftly to close the deal for the Athletic Club winger knowing that the interest from Chelsea and Arsenal is growing after his fantastic campaign at the UEFA Euro 2024.

As such, the Catalans have fully set their focus on the deal for Nico for the time being and will make a contract proposal for the Spaniard soon.

Barcelona understand that it is crucial for them to close an agreement on the player side to wade off the other suitors.

Once that is done, they intend to get the green light from La Liga over Financial Fair Play and activate his €58 million release clause to sign him from Athletic Club.

Barça have already intensified contacts with Nico’s entourage and will insist on finalising an agreement over personal terms this week as they intend to close the deal as quickly as possible.
