Barcelona defender Mikayil Faye is gaining a lot of attention from various clubs across Europe and according to a recent report from SPORT, FC Porto from Portugal has now joined the list of teams interested in him.

The report further indicates that while Barcelona continue to hold him in high regard, they would seek a fee of around €15 million if an exit is sanctioned.

Porto are well-known for identifying young talents, making smart purchases, and later selling these players for significant profits.

Now with Andoni Zubizarreta in charge as the new sporting director, he has shown interest in Faye. Zubizarreta, however, faces the challenge of persuading Barcelona that Porto are the best place for Faye to continue his career.

Despite his strong connections to Barcelona, where he previously served as sports director, he must compete with many other clubs interested in Faye because ultimately, Deco will decide if he stays with the first team or is sold.

As of now, Deco is focused on maintaining some control over Faye’s future, indicating that Barcelona still see potential in the young defender.

It is no secret that Barcelona are in need of money, and selling players is a logical way to bring in funds.

Now, it is to be noted that Faye had an outstanding season with Barça Atletic, catching the attention of the Senegal national team and clubs looking for young, promising players.

Deco would prefer to see him promoted to Barcelona’s first team, but the roster already has too many centre-backs, and this overcrowding needs to be resolved.

Given the financial pressure, Barcelona are ready to consider offers for Faye, with bids of around €15 million plus potential bonuses and buyback options.

Porto insistent on Faye

Porto, besides having Zubizarreta, has a good relationship with Barcelona. Although there have been changes at the club, recent transfers, like that of Nico Gonzalez with a buyback option, show that negotiations between the two clubs can be successful.

It is said that Zubizarreta will face tough competition in securing Faye’s transfer, as Porto will have to compete with offers from major European clubs and some Spanish teams.

These Spanish clubs might offer loans or smaller transfers, giving Barcelona the option to buy Faye back later. However, such deals are challenging, especially when transfers to Premier League clubs are considered.
