Journalist Ferran Correas is reporting via SPORT that Raphinha, who hasn’t started for Barcelona for over a month, could get a place in the playing XI when Blaugrana host Getafe today.
Heading into today’s game, there is a feeling that Barcelona manager Xavi will make some changes to the playing XI in order to rest a few key members.
In that sense, it is said that Lamine Yamal could be rested for the first time in the last six league matches and the young Spaniard could be replaced by Raphinha.
A reduced role
After being sidelined for two weeks due to a hamstring injury sustained during the Spanish Super Cup semifinal against Osasuna in January, the Brazilian winger is set to make a comeback to the playing XI.
Despite only playing very few minutes since receiving medical clearance, he is now fully prepared to start, having recovered from the setback before the clash against Granada.
Interestingly enough, the Brazilian’s comeback to the playing XI coincides with his memory against Getafe, a team against which he received a red card in the first half for elbowing his opponent in response to provocation earlier in the season.
What does the future hold for him?
Right now, Raphinha must seize every available minute until the end of the season to prove his mostly because despite having a contract until June 30, 2027, he is among the footballers speculated for a potential transfer.
In the current season, he has played 23 games, netting four goals and providing seven assists. His remarkable speed and proficiency in long-range shots could prove pivotal in overcoming the defensive strategy of Getafe.
Lastly, while Raphinha boasted impressive stats last year with 10 goals and 12 assists in fifty games, this season has been marked by injuries and the emergence of Yamal.
However, considering his past contributions and potential, he has a golden opportunity against Getafe to regain the trust of his manager and secure his future at the club.
