Raphinha has been one of Barcelona’s most improved players this season and has taken up the captaincy with poise.

A leader like none other on the field and earning praise for his high-quality performances, the Brazilian has established himself as a guaranteed starter under Hansi Flick.

His rise to prominence, however, is no coincidence for the German tactician has regarded the winger highly from the first day they crossed paths. SPORT provides an update on the same.

Love at first sight

As relayed by the outlet, several factors are behind Raphinha’s improvement this season, the first of which is the complete synergy between him and Flick.

The German tactician was fascinated by Raphinha’s energy from day one and rated him highly and it was always clear that the Brazilian would be a key part of his project.

In fact, Raphinha’s presence was the reason the coach prioritised the signing of Dani Olmo over Nico Williams in the summer as he saw the former Leeds United star to be an able candidate to provide other solutions in the attack.

Flick also understands the dynamism and versatility that the 27-year-old brings to the table, especially at a time when Barcelona are in an acute injury crisis.

The report furthers that the manager loves Raphinha not only for his quality on the field but his complete dedication and passion towards the project that he possesses.

It is, thus, no surprise that the player has played all but the opening hour against Osasuna which happens to be Barcelona’s only defeat in La Liga this season.

Beyond the manager’s eyes, the winger is also a loved figure in the dressing room and repays Flick’s trust with a dedication that completely does away with any talk of a departure in the future.

Barcelona are happy with Raphinha and the only scenario where a departure could be considered is if the club require funds to strengthen the squad next summer.

As it stands, however, Flick does not even wish to hear of the possibility and the player is here to stay.
