After deciding to sack Xavi Hernandez as head coach, Barcelona are poised to appoint Hansi Flick as the new manager.

The German tactician’s arrival could be officiated as soon as next week and one would expect the former Bayern coach to get started with next season’s preparation right away.

Given that Flick has been linked with a move to Barcelona for a while, the German might have already studied the team quite well. And keeping that in mind, many of the existing stars could see their fortunes turn upside down.

Vitor Roque’s fortunes to change?

According to Fabrizio Romano, Flick is hoping to bring in a positive atmosphere upon his arrival in Barcelona.

Romano adds that Roque’s situation could be completely different once Flick joins Barcelona. He may even have a serious opportunity to make an impact in the starting eleven.

This could serve as a sigh of relief for Roque, who struggled to establish himself as a first-team regular after joining Barcelona in the January transfer window.

Roque’s confidence was hampered by Xavi’s lack of trust in the attacker. His lack of game-time even led to speculation over his long-term future at Camp Nou.

Barcelona, in fact, were reportedly prepared to loan him out in the coming summer, so that Roque could gain some experience at the highest level of football.

That could change once Flick arrives in Barcelona. During his time at Bayern and Germany, Flick was never averse to the idea of handing opportunities to young players and Roque, to that end, could be one of the beneficiaries.

Although Flick shares an excellent relationship with Robert Lewandowski, he might try to utilise Roque’s services in the final third. The Brazilian’s versatility, to that end, could help his case further.
