We are all awaiting the England team v Slovenia with interest.
The Group C match has an 8 pm kick-off in Colohne, to be shown live on ITV1.
After the poor showings so far, apart from very early in the Serbia game, will Gareth Southgate do anything different?
It does appear that the England team v Slovenia has been leaked, either accidentally or on purpose.
The eleven Gareth Southgate named for both the Serbia and Denmark matches were this lot –
Pickford, Trippier, Guehi, Stones, Walker, Rice, Alexander-Arnold, Foden, Bellingham, Saka, Kane
Across the media the acceptance is that Southgate will only make one change, Conor Gallagher in for Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Which I think fair to say, hasn’t exactly excited or satisfied anybody.
Interesting then to see that BBC Sport has asked various pundits what their England team v Slovenia would be…
Wayne Rooney’s England team v Slovenia:
Pickford, Walker, Stones, Guehi, Trippier, Rice, Bellingham, Saka, Foden, Gordon, Kane.
Jermaine Jenas’ England team v Slovenia:
Pickford, Walker, Stones, Guehi, Gomez, Rice, Mainoo, Saka, Bellingham, Gordon, Kane.
BBC Sport Chief football writer Phil McNulty and his England team v Slovenia:
Pickford, Walker, Stones, Guehi, Trippier, Rice, Bellingham, Saka, Foden, Gordon, Kane.
Micah Richards’ England team v Slovenia:
Pickford, Walker, Stones, Guehi, Trippier, Rice, Bellingham, Saka, Foden, Gordon, Kane.
Danny Murphy’s England team v Slovenia:
Pickford, Walker, Stones, Guehi, Shaw, Whartiin, Gallagher, Rice, Palmer, Watkins, Eze
So four of the five picked Anthony Gordon, three of the five selected Kieran Trippier.
The clueless Danny Murphy is the only one to refuse to pick either Newcastle United player, preferring instead Shaw who is unavailable and Eze on the left.
