The former Algerian coach commented on the rumor which had reported a rapprochement with OM.

Olympique de Marseille has still not found Jean-Louis Gasset’s successor. Sergio Conceiçao is announced as the current priority of the Phocaeans, but other names are also circulating in the media such as that of the former Algerian coach Djamel Belmadi.

Echoes suggested that the former Olympian had offered his services to Pablo Longoria and that Mehdi Benatia opposed it. It is not so. The person himself denied this in an intervention to Al-Jazeera. He admitted to having been contacted by OM, but it was only to attend the match against OGC Nice. An invitation that he had also declined. Concerning the coaching position, there was never any discussion. Belmadi would also be upset by rumors suggesting the opposite.

Belmadi could have participated in the Euro

The African champion coach also denied the fact that he had received an offer from the Tunisian federation to lead the Carthage Eagles selection. On the other hand, he admitted to having contacts with clubs in Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

Finally, Belmadi also indicated that a national team competing in the next Euro had sought to secure his services but that he apologized to them because the challenge did not interest him.
