Karim Benzema was one of the big protagonists of the winter transfer window.

According to numerous reports, the French striker wanted to return to Europe, just six months after making the decision to leave Real Madrid to join Saudi club Al-Ittihad.

Benzema wants to recover

Benzema has struggled since the start of the season and constant media attention has caused him to look to leave, which Al-Ittihad have reportedly agreed to. It would first have been necessary to find a replacement, which was not the case, Atletico Madrid having failed to reach an agreement with Angel Correa.

Lyon were interested in re-signing Benzema, 15 years after he left the club to join Real Madrid. With the Saudi market now closed until the summer, Benzema won’t be going anywhere, according to Diario AS. Benzema hopes that 2024 will be much better than the second half of 2023. In any case, he has the qualities necessary to turn things around in the Middle East.
