The winger was injured during his side’s win over Leganes earlier this month and has been sidelined for several weeks with an ankle injury. According to Mundo Deportivo, the Spanish star was flown to the United Arab Emirates, alongside a cousin and a friend, to relax and train in the gym. Over the past week, Yamal has been undergoing platelet-rich plasma treatment in hopes of being able to return sooner.

Special treatment

The Catalan side are hoping Yamal, who has six goals and 11 assists in La Liga and the Champions League this season, will be back in contention for the Spanish Super Cup semi-final against Athletic Club on January 8. He had already been ruled out of the Copa del Rey clash at Barbastro four days previously.

Barca have scheduled an open training session for December 29, but Yamal is not expected to take part, so he could choose to extend his stay in Dubai or be recalled to continue his recovery under the eye of the club’s medical staff .
