It is no secret that Barcelona’s pursuit of German international Jonathan Tah is set to reignite, with the Blaugrana eyeing the centre-back as a key target for the summer of 2025.
Barça were keen to secure Tah’s services in the summer, but the deal fell through due to the club’s financial constraints and salary cap issues.
With Tah’s contract expiring at the end of the season, he has now become one of the most coveted defenders on the market.
Real Madrid to make things difficult
However, according to Diario SPORT, Barcelona’s path to securing Tah is far from straightforward.
That is because Real Madrid have entered the race, with the Whites looking to bolster their defensive options.
Bayern Munich have also expressed interest, but according to reports, Tah is more inclined to move to Spain, with Madrid already starting negotiations.

Barcelona hopeful of a free transfer
Barcelona made their first move for Tah through his agent, Pini Zahavi, with whom sporting director Deco maintains excellent relations.
While the Blaugrana could not match Leverkusen’s asking price last summer, they are now hopeful of a free transfer, though they must first make room in their squad.
The potential departures of players like Andreas Christensen or Ronald Araujo, both of whom have yet to renew their contracts, may create the necessary space.
Araujo, for his part, has emerged as a potential target for Thomas Tuchel, should he replace Erik Ten Hag as the Manchester United manager.
With only a few months remaining before Tah can officially sign a pre-contract, the battle between Barcelona and Real Madrid is heating up, and it remains to be seen who will ultimately win the defender’s signature.
