Big Bill gets candid about Bryan Danielson.
For the first time in five years, Bryan Danielson is leading a wrestling promotion as world champion. This time, Danielson serves as the AEW World Champion, with one successful title defense already under his belt. During a recent interview with Barstool Rasslin’, fellow AEW wrestler Big Bill was asked about the internal reaction to Danielson’s title win, and his subsequent rise to being the face of All Elite Wrestling.
According to Bill, there is nothing but respect for Bryan Danielson.
“He’s Bryan Danielson. You just say his name to anybody in the business, and respect comes to mind immediately. All the things he’s accomplished,” Bill said. “Bryan Danielson is a guy that wasn’t supposed to be very successful. I think that’s what makes people respect him the most; he was a guy that was supposed to be a mid-carder at best, and he refused to fit into that role. His talent was [high]. He put his head down, he chipped away chipped away and the fans were like ‘No, this is our f***ing guy.'”
“Respect comes to mind immediately just because of that journey that he had, all the amazing matches he’s had, just everything that comes with that. And behind the scenes, the guy’s a great dude. He’s a really good human being. That’s a guy that anybody can go to. Anybody can go to [him] and ask for advice; he’s going to give them his honest opinion.”
Danielson, known as “The American Dragon,” claimed the AEW World Championship with a win over Swerve Strickland at AEW All In. Following that, Danielson successfully defended the title against Jack Perry at AEW All Out.
