Bowen Yang cleared up a rumor that he was responsible for getting Shane Gillis fired from Saturday Night Live. If you were unaware, Shane is set to host the March 1 episode of the late-night show. He previously hosted in early 2024. Shane had more history with the show, though. He was hired in 2019 and fired four days later amid controversy. In the leadup to the new episode, a background actor from the show took to social media to allege that Bowen was responsible for Shane being let go all those years ago. He replied to them. Keep reading to find out more… “Can we acknowledge that Bowen Yang b-tched him off the show,” she wrote in a comment on Instagram (via EW), “and he’s the bigger mane to come host after being unfairly ditched bc of a whiny queen. SNL fired him as a hater. He’s not. He’s very king and has smart humor and stands up to bullying. Good for him!” Bowen replied, writing, “Didn’t do any of this but I wrote the sketch you were a background actor in.”
