Before joining the United States to try to win a 10th Copa America, Brazil is preparing to play two friendly matches, against Mexico (June 9) and against the host country of the competition (June 13), for a final repetition. And for the occasion, Lucas Paquetá (26 years old) will indeed join the Auriverde group stationed in Florida, despite new accusations from the English Federation on his involvement in a questionable sports betting affair, where he is accused of having sought “intentionally to receive a card from the referee” on several occasions to favor relatives.

The former OL attacking midfielder was present at a press conference with his selection and wanted to thank the CBF and its President, Ednaldo Rodrigues, for keeping him in the group, before speaking about his affair: “This will be the first and only time I will speak about this matter. My lawyers have advised me not to comment on the matter. What I can say is that I continue to do my best, cooperating. My lawyers defend me so that everything is clarified in the end. The decision made me sad but we will do everything to change this decision and cooperate”, he assured. Lucas Paqueta risks a heavy sanction.
