The All Progressives Congress (APC) has chosen Hon. Dennis Idahosa as its deputy governorship candidate for the September 21 Edo Governorship election.
APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and National Secretary, Sen. Ajibola Bashiru, will present Senator Monday Okpebholo, the party’s flag bearer, along with his running mate, to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Villa today.
Idahosa replaces Hon. Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, who was previously announced as the running mate by the governorship candidate.
Idahosa, a member of the House of Representatives, emerged on Sunday night following an extensive meeting involving stakeholders from Edo, party leadership, and Vice President Kashim Shettima. Also present at the meeting were the party’s flag bearer, Senator Monday Okpebholo, former Edo Governor, Senator Adams Oshiomole, and Hon. Idahosa.
The selection of Idahosa comes after the controversies surrounding the party’s shadow election, initially held on February 1 and concluded on February 21, where Idahosa had initially lost the ticket to Okpebholo.
