The Federal Government has made a decisive move to address the looming N23 trillion debt accrued through Ways and Means.
This resolution was announced by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, during the ongoing Public Wealth Management Conference organized by the Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MoFI).
In an effort to mitigate future Ways and Means indebtedness, Edun disclosed that the Federal Government intends to introduce a bill to the National Assembly. This bill aims to authorize the elimination of “all taxes and levies that constitute nuisance” from the country’s tax system.
Furthermore, the government plans to actively pursue policies facilitating the real-time collection of revenue from Government Owned Enterprises (GOEs) and corporate entities. This strategic approach underscores the government’s commitment to financial accountability and sustainability.
