The Nigerian Army has released Clement Ikolo, the traditional ruler of Ewu Kingdom, from custody after approximately one month.
The Monarch was handed over to Senator Ede Dafinone, representing Delta Central at the National Assembly, who acted as the surety.
Major General Clement Nwachukwu, the Army’s Spokesman, confirmed the release, stating that Ikolo was entrusted to the Senator due to the lack of evidence establishing his culpability, although he has not been formally exonerated.
The traditional ruler surrendered himself to the police following the declaration of him and several others as wanted by the military in connection with the killing of 17 army personnel in Okuama on March 14th.
After surrendering, he remained in military custody for about a month following the police’s handover to the military.
